GCE results – record breaking & simply marvellous!!

Well done to all our 6th Form students!!!!

Our 6th Form students had good reason to celebrate their GCE achievements this week.  Overall Year 13 ‘A2’ results soared to 97% pass rate with 49% of students achieving A*-B grades, an increase of 12% on last year. Year 12 ‘AS’ results also rose to 41% achieving A*-B grades, an increase of over 14% on last year.

Students studying A Level sciences did particularly well. Tony Abaskharon achieved BBB and is going to the University of Surrey to study Biomedical Science, Angel Andrews achieved BBC and has been offered a place at Manchester to study Biochemistry whilst Toktan Tabibi achieved a tremendous A*ABB and will be going to Kings to study medicine. Toktan moved to the UK from the Netherlands less than four years ago and has achieved outstanding results since she joined us.

Some fantastic results too from Dominic Santa Maria who achieved a tremendous A*AA and is going to University of Bath to study Accounting and Finance and Courtney Bradshaw achieving BBB, off to Southampton to study Criminology and Psychology and Lakkaya Palmer who is going to Queen Mary to study History.

Students studying BTEC Sports and Health and Social Care achieved some great results with Jordan Mason achieving Dist*Dist*Dist* in Health and Social Care and Dist* Dist* in Sports, Jordan has secured a scholarship at Brunel University to study Physical Education and Youth Sport, whilst Aimee Rees who also achieved Dist*Dist*Dist* in Health and Social Care and Dist*Dist* Sports is going on to study Midwifery. Equally impressive are the efforts of Demi Deacon who studied Business (double award) and Sport, Demi has secured a place to study Business and Management with International Study at the excellent University of Exeter, a Russell Group university consistently ranked amongst the top 15 universities in the UK.

Business and IT students also achieved impressive results.  92% of the A2 IT students achieved top grades (Dist* or Dist).  90% of students studying A level Business and or ICT secured places at their first choice universities!   Miss Basharat, Head of Business & Computing Faculty, was super pleased with the results in both Year 12 and 13, which broke previous records, the most significant highlight being 77% of Year 13 Business students (double award) achieving between an A*-B grade, 35% higher than the national average!  Incredible!! Lc Pascual and Vanessa Felix both go onto Royal Holloway to study Business and Management and Ramyar Shwani who achieved BB Dist* going to the University of Reading to study Computer Science. A special well done to Jess Andrews who was awarded a scholarship at Portsmouth University where she will study a non business related pathway Criminology and Psychology. Congratulations to Sophie Friell; will study Computing and Business Administration, Rebecca Major and Emilie Waller; International Business, Liibaan Shafec and Yusuf Dunn; Marketing.  Special congratulations to Sophie for achieving A* in both Business and IT. Sian Summers has been inspired by her own schooling to take up a degree in Primary Education at St Marys University.  Jana Hajmohamed will study Accounting and Finance at the University of Surrey, ranked 4th in the UK! Congratulations to Harry Richards and Yaaseen Aziz who are both hoping to emulate Mark Zuckerberg in their own Computing degrees at the University of Portsmouth.

The Academy is pleased at the quality of university offers and the success rate against first choices this year, our students have shown once more they are determined to succeed in life, they live and breathe the academy motto ‘Learning Transforms Lives’.
