‘Stockley Academy has improved significantly' OfSTED 2010

Stockley Academy was visited by OfSTED Inspectors in May 2010, who said the Academy had improved significantly since it was last inspected.

The Inspection report highlighted many positive aspects about the academy. Here are just a few of the many highlights contained in the report; ...a depth of good leadership across the academy... unremitting drive to raise standards... moving forward rapidly... Attendance is now above average... Good teaching and learning …students are focused on the task, challenged appropriately, enjoy their work and make good progress... Students gain in academic confidence and self-esteem …teachers often present the lesson with energy and enthusiasm... The academy’s building and resources make a very significant contribution to the academy’s growing ethos of achievement... Standards in the Sixth Form have risen significantly...

Principal Ian Storey said, “I am very pleased with the results of our extremely positive OfSTED inspection. We are delighted that the inspectors' findings so closely mirror our own assessment of our performance and highlight the considerable improvements made by the Academy in the last two years”.

Chair of Governors, Mrs Marilyn Russell commented, “We would like to thank all staff and students for the effort they put into this process to give us a successful outcome. In particular the Governing Body would like to thank the Principal, Mr Ian Storey, who took over the Academy at a difficult time, and has been instrumental in raising standards. From this platform and by working in partnership with parents and carers, the Academy will continue to move forward and go from strength to strength.”
