Has Stockley got Talent?

That was the big question of the night, at an evening of singing, dancing, magic and instrumentals in front of a packed out crowd. Stockley's Got Talent was a talent show organised by the 2010 prom committee.

The night was compered by students Rebecca Akhazemea and Rohit Haldania, and was a big success, with over £400 being raised for this year's prom.

The overall winner was Harvir Gill, who put on a showstopping dance performance of seven Michael Jackson songs, all seamlessly linked together. He was presented with a glass trophy and a voucher donated by On Route for a month's free membership of the school of performing arts..

Lin Dickens said, "Everyone was on their feet clapping, it was a spellbinding performance. The atmosphere was electric, I felt very proud to be a part of it. "The comperes were brilliant hosts, they built a comic routine into it, and they even involved the audience in their routine."

The Judges were unanimous, Stockley definitely does have talent! When the judge's points were added up Harvir was announced the winner.  Thank you to Judges; Ms Lynch, Mrs Gibbons, Yaw Darko, Lucy Dickens,
Mr Nightingale, Ms Du Plessis, Mr Chakravarty and Mr Harris.

Highly commended runners up were Jessica da Costa and Shanice Obeng and Connor Farrell and Shaun Richards.

When the judges decision was announced Rebecca Akhazemea rounded the evening off by singing a brilliant rendition of  the song 'I believe' made famous by Yolanda Adams and even the audience joined in!

Mrs Gibbons, Learning leader Year 9 said "I really enjoyed both shows. The year 11 students who attended the evening performance were good fun and it was great to be part of the audience participating with them. All in all I think everyone enjoyed themselves and left with a real 'feel good' factor. Well done to all involved."

The evening was held in the Academy's performance hall, and was filmed, with clips set to be uploaded to YouTube.
