On Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th November twelve students from Stockley Academy battled it out to become the Apprentice. Mustafa Matovu was hired after a grueling boardroom meeting.
The event was organised and planned by students - Perina Anwari, Deepika Hans and Sandeep Guhataour as part of their A level Business studies course. The two day event consisted of 3 activities including a sales task, a product development and branding task and the re-marketing of West Drayton.
Mr Nightingale (Head of Expressive Arts) played the Sir Alan role and he closely mimicked his namesake – paying close attention to the detail, questioned the teams work ethic and their determination to win. Asked to comment, he said, “The Young Apprentice at Stockley Academy was fantastic, whether you win or lose, you’ve taken part and learnt something. Fantastic, what an event!”
Ms Mann, Teacher of Business Studies, commented “The three sixth form students really did well to execute the event with such professionalism and dedication. The event has been inspiring for all the students involved, who have all fought hard to remain in the competition at each stage. I watched the event from start to finish and I think it has been superb at raising the student’s confidence and enhancing their soft skills, getting them thinking about problems like business professionals.”
After being announced the winner Mustafa Matovu, had this to say “I found interacting with other year groups during the event and working in teams was really fun and valuable. Overall I really enjoyed the event and I am ecstatic that I won.”
Project team leader Perina Anwari said “I was really glad to see that everything went as planned and that all our hard work paid off, we all enjoyed doing it and I would like the Academy to run the competition every year”. The prize was £50 of Chimes vouchers donated by Mr. Storey, Principal of Stockley Academy.
